With the accelerated pace of life, significant lifestyle changes, and the aging population in China, the number of people suffering from spine-related diseases is steadily increasing. The Spine Surgery Subspecialty, a key focus of the Orthopedics/Trauma Center, addresses a wide range of spinal conditions including degeneration, trauma, tumors, inflammation, and deformities, which often lead to symptoms such as neck and shoulder pain, back and leg pain, limb numbness, weakness, gait instability, and bladder or bowel dysfunction.

Common spinal conditions treated include spinal cord injuries, cervical spondylosis, cervical, thoracic, and lumbar disc herniation, spinal stenosis, lumbar spondylolisthesis, degenerative spinal diseases, osteoporotic vertebral compression fractures, scoliosis, kyphosis deformities, spinal tumors, and spinal inflammation.

Under the leadership of Vice President and department head Dr. Xiu Xianlun, the Orthopedics/Trauma Center has developed into a highly advanced department known for its comprehensive trauma care, along with its specialized services in spine and joint surgeries. The department has also established long-term collaborations with Shanghai Zhongshan Hospital and the Second Hospital of Shandong University, further enhancing its capabilities and reputation locally.
