On June 6, Arianti Anaya, the Deputy Minister of Health of the Republic of Indonesia, led a delegation to visit our hospital, where both parties signed a "Cooperation Intent for Graduate Medical Education" between the Indonesian Ministry of Health and Rizhao Heart Hospital. Over the next five years, the Indonesian Ministry of Health will send multiple groups of cardiovascular doctors, nurses, and technicians to our hospital for further education and training.
Leaders from Rizhao City attended the event, warmly welcoming Deputy Minister Arianti Anaya and delivering a welcoming speech.
As the largest economy in Southeast Asia, Indonesia has a population of over 270 million, making it the fourth most populous country in the world, with an economy ranked sixteenth globally. With the deepening of the "Belt and Road" initiative, cooperation between China and Indonesia has intensified in various fields, including infrastructure construction and bilateral trade. The Jakarta-Bandung High-Speed Railway is a flagship project for China and Indonesia's cooperation under the Belt and Road framework. The trade volume between Indonesia and China has continuously increased, surpassing 100 billion USD for several years, with China being Indonesia's largest trading partner for eleven consecutive years and ranking among the top three sources of foreign investment for eight years. The relationship between China and Indonesia has remained strong, with President Xi Jinping's first visit after the 20th National Congress taking place in Indonesia and President Joko Widodo visiting China three times, while Prabowo Subianto, after being elected president, made his first foreign visit to China. In the future, both governments will focus on comprehensive cooperation in infrastructure, mining, agriculture, forestry, fisheries, digital economy, green economy, and healthcare.
The Indonesian Ministry of Health is committed to seeking international cooperation to address the high incidence of cardiovascular diseases and the shortage of medical personnel. During this visit to China, they signed cooperation agreements with Shanghai Fudan University Affiliated Zhongshan Hospital, Rizhao Hospital Affiliated to Qingdao University /Rizhao International Heart Hospital, and Peking Union Medical College Hospital.
During the seminar, Deputy Minister Arianti Anaya mentioned the increasing incidence of cardiovascular diseases in Indonesia, which is compounded by a shortage of medical personnel. The Indonesian Ministry of Health is dedicated to improving healthcare quality and hopes to establish friendly cooperation with Rizhao Heart Hospital, sending cardiovascular doctors and technicians to learn and train in order to cultivate more specialized medical talent in Indonesia and enhance domestic healthcare services.
Chairman Song Xin noted that since the establishment of the hospital five years ago, under the guidance of Academician Ge Junbo and with support from the city and various sectors of society, the entire team has been committed to the prevention and treatment of cardiovascular diseases, providing high-quality, innovative, and affordable medical services to patients. The hospital has successfully performed over 10,000 surgeries, including several innovative surgeries that were firsts in Shandong Province, with a CMI (Case Mix Index) value leading in Shandong. The rate of local cardiovascular patients seeking treatment outside Rizhao has decreased from over 40% in 2018 to below 20%. The hospital aims to reduce the number of cardiovascular patients traveling outside Rizhao for treatment to less than 5% by 2025. Simultaneously, the hospital has attracted numerous patients from other regions, extending its medical services to nearly 20 provinces and over 80 cities, with patients from outside accounting for over 15%, making it a trusted place for patients to entrust their lives.
The hospital will actively respond to the needs of the Indonesian Ministry of Health by providing professional, high-quality training for Indonesian medical personnel and jointly advancing medical research and clinical practice in the field of cardiovascular disease prevention and treatment.
Renan Sukmawan, head of the Indonesian Society of Cardiology, introduced the training needs, duration, and objectives for Indonesian cardiologists. He stated that Indonesia hopes to focus on training in interventional cardiology, pediatric cardiology, congenital heart disease, arrhythmias, and cardiac ultrasound. This is a long-term training program organized officially, with doctors being dispatched in multiple phases for training, and they hope to establish a long-term friendly cooperation relationship with Rizhao Hospital Affiliated to Qingdao University /Rizhao International Heart Hospital
At the ceremony, Deputy Minister Arianti Anaya and Chairman Song Xin officially signed the "Cooperation Intent for Graduate Medical Education" between the Indonesian Ministry of Health and Rizhao International Heart Hospital, aiming to train medical experts and doctors certified in the fields of cardiovascular and cerebrovascular diseases, providing postgraduate medical education and language training programs, which will lead to substantial progress in medical education and research between Indonesia and China and benefit the people of both countries.
During the visit, Deputy Minister Arianti Anaya and her delegation toured the hospital's outpatient building, inpatient building, and catheterization laboratory, expressing high praise for the hospital's advanced medical facilities, professional medical team, rich clinical experience, and technological achievements in treating heart diseases. They look forward to collaborating with Rizhao International Heart Hospital.
The signing of the cooperation intent for cardiovascular doctor training between Rizhao Hospital Affiliated to Qingdao University /Rizhao International Heart Hospital and the Indonesian Ministry of Health represents another significant achievement in deepening cooperation between the two countries under the "Belt and Road" framework. It is hoped that this will serve as an opportunity to actively promote in-depth cooperation in the medical field between China and Indonesia, jointly develop, and continuously enhance the health and well-being of the people of both nations, contributing wisdom and strength to the advancement of global healthcare and regional development and prosperity.
