The Grand Opening of the Rizhao Cardiovascular Summit & the 6th Anniversary of Rizhao International Heart Hospital

On the morning of October 5, the 8th Shanghai-Shandong Cardiovascular Experts Forum, the 7th Rizhao Cardiovascular Summit (RCS), the 4th Multidisciplinary Heart Failure Academic Conference of the Shandong Medical Association, and the 8th Yimeng Cardiology Forum officially opened.

Attendees included numerous leading cardiovascular experts from across the country, such as Academician Ge Junbo, President of Rizhao Hospital Affiliated to Qingdao University /Rizhao International Heart Hospital, Academician Gu Ning, President of the Clinical Medicine Research Institute of Nanjing University Affiliated Drum Tower Hospital, President Qin Sizhao of Lingnan University in Hong Kong, Chief Cardiologist Huo Yong from Peking University First Hospital, Wu Xiangdong, Secretary of the Party Committee of the Shandong Provincial Hospital Affiliated with Shandong First Medical University, and Wang Aijie, Vice President of the Shandong Medical Association. Also attending were local officials including Wang Xinsheng, Deputy Secretary of the Rizhao Municipal Committee and Mayor, Ming Ming, Member of the Municipal Standing Committee and Minister of Organization, Yang Hongfu, Deputy Director of the Municipal People's Congress Standing Committee, and Lin Yanqin, Vice Mayor.

The opening ceremony was hosted by Professor Yuan Haitao, Chairman of the Cardiology Department at Shandong Provincial Hospital and Executive Chairman of the conference.

In his speech, Wang Xinsheng introduced the development of Rizhao's healthcare and life sciences industries. He mentioned that President Xi Jinping visited Rizhao in May of this year, inspiring both local residents and those from Rizhao living elsewhere, as well as drawing significant attention from people across various sectors. Over recent years, top cardiovascular experts have provided tremendous support to Rizhao, helping attract talent, technology, and capital, facilitating the settlement of many enterprises in the city. He expressed the hope that more academic achievements, innovative platforms, investment projects, and partnerships could be brought to Rizhao in the future. Rizhao will work with the Shandong Medical Association, Shanghai Medical Association, and the China Cardiovascular Health Alliance to deepen cooperation, providing a platform for exchanges and services to build a brighter future together.

Wu Xiangdong, Secretary of Shandong Provincial Hospital, stated in his speech that the Shanghai-Shandong Cardiovascular Experts Forum has grown rapidly over the past eight years, from a small and localized event to an internationally renowned, high-level academic conference. The forum has now become a distinguished medical academic event with high levels of participation, expert speakers, and wide-ranging influence. This year’s conference will continue to uphold the core values of inheritance, innovation, cooperation, and cultivation. During the summit, nearly 300 well-known experts and scholars in cardiovascular medicine, hospital management, medical innovation, and industrial development delivered speeches. At the same time, the 6th anniversary of the establishment of Rizhao Hospital Affiliated to Qingdao University /Rizhao International Heart Hospital was also celebrated. Over the past six years, under the leadership of President Ge Junbo, Rizhao Heart Hospital has continuously improved the treatment of vascular diseases and transformed from a newly established institution into a comprehensive center of excellence. The hospital has performed more than 18,000 surgeries, many of which were the first of their kind in Rizhao or Shandong Province. The cardiology and cardiothoracic surgery departments have been recognized as key clinical specialties in the city, with the construction of a comprehensive vascular treatment center steadily advancing.
