Personal Profile

Dr. Liu Beiyan completed her undergraduate, master's, and doctoral studies at Harbin Medical University. She previously worked in the Department of Endocrinology and Nutrition at the University of Maryland, focusing on the diagnosis, treatment, and basic research of obesity and insulin resistance-related diseases. With over 20 years of medical experience, Dr. Liu possesses the ability to comprehensively manage complex, rare, and challenging endocrine and metabolic diseases, as well as to treat critically ill patients.


Specializing in Internal Medicine (Endocrinology and Metabolic Diseases), her clinical expertise includes diabetes and its acute and chronic complications, obesity, thyroid diseases, hypothalamic-pituitary tumors, adrenal adenomas, and growth and development disorders. Dr. Liu is proficient in advanced diagnostic and treatment techniques such as complication assessment for diabetes, intensive blood glucose control, insulin pump therapy, continuous glucose monitoring, treatment of thyroid eye disease with steroids, and comprehensive hormone replacement therapy.


She has published more than 30 SCI and core journal papers, including articles like "KETOSIS-ONSET DIABETES AND KETOSIS-PRONE DIABETES: SAME OR NOT?" and "The Role of the E-LABELA/APJ Signaling Pathway in the Cardiovascular System." Dr. Liu has also authored three academic monographs and has undertaken and completed numerous provincial, municipal, and departmental research and educational projects.
