Personal Profile

Academician Ge Junbo has long been dedicated to promoting clinical technological innovations and the translation of research achievements in the field of cardiovascular diseases in China. He has created many "firsts" in the diagnosis and treatment of heart diseases in China, as well as several "firsts" in Shanghai. His breakthrough discovery on "myocardial bridging" has particularly astonished the medical community.

In 2010, he was the first in China to perform Transcatheter Aortic Valve Implantation (TAVI). In 2012, he also pioneered the MitraClip procedure in China for transcatheter mitral valve repair, and introduced and applied the "retrograde wire technique" to treat chronic total occlusions (CTO) of the coronary arteries.

Professor Ge Junbo has made a series of groundbreaking achievements in the fields of intravascular ultrasound research, the development of new coronary stents, and the prevention of in-stent restenosis, significantly contributing to the elevation of China's international academic standing in cardiovascular medicine.
